Am I the “write” Emily for your project?

Here’s a little bit about me:

  • I’m a consecrated virgin in the Catholic Diocese of Lafayette, Louisiana. You can learn more about my vocation on my personal blog, A Consecrated Virgin?.
  • I’m a proficient writer, editor, translator, and tutor with over a decade of experience in curriculum development and classroom instruction. After thirteen years of working in teaching and administration, I founded The Write Emily in summer 2025.
  • My undergraduate degrees are in English: Creative Writing and Spanish Language & Culture. I also have a master’s in Theology and am trained as a spiritual director.
  • I am fluent in Spanish, with a working knowledge of Italian, French, and ecclesiastical Latin.

I’m an aspiring author and what my grandmother affectionately termed a “freelance nun” (a consecrated virgin— which is sort of like being a sister who doesn’t live in a convent). After 13 years of teaching, I am now writing and editing full time.
